Lies of P parts ways with Denuvo

TheBloodborne-esqueLies of Phas quietlyremoved the anti-tamper DRM Denuvo, as indicated by the changelog on SteamDB. The reasons for the change are currently unknown, though there probably won’t be any complaints about it. The DRM was added on September 15, just a few days before the game’s official release which resulted in a bit of controversy. Fingers have often been pointed at Denuvo for affecting the performance of games that implement it, though the company itself hasrepeatedly denied these allegations....

Mark Wahlberg may play Max Payne in upcoming film

P.T. Anderson’sBoogie Nightsis far and away one of my favorite modern films. The scene where Mark Wahlberg’s character Dirk Diggler passionately (and poorly) sings “The Touch” in a sound studio, while a miserable looking Michael Penn mans the boards, will live with me forever. It’s a scene that elevated Wahlberg above his bad boy, joke-like Marky Mark persona, and made him something more — an acting God. So it’s with great pleasure that I deliver the news that Twentieth Century Fox has approached Wahlberg to star in the film adaptation ofMax Payne....

Bungie has already shown what new Perks will be coming to the Artifact inDestiny 2‘s second Act ofHeresy. The game is about to get great for trace rifle fans, and the weapons should even work well with existing Arc setups, thanks to all those great Arc trace rifles. EachDestiny 2Episode (like Seasons before) gives players an Artifact to level throughout the content stretch. While the Artifacts typically have some narrative significance to what’s happening during the Episode, the more direct benefit of these items is the assortment of Artifact Perks offered....

Nintendo isn’t down with the $1 downloadable game

I’m glad. Just a couple of days ago I was having lunch with a friend and we were talking about how nice it is that the whole games industry isn’t on this $1 quick fix downloadable game bandwagon. It’s good that there’s some out there still dedicated to making full-budget, lengthy, polished gaming experiences. Nintendo says that they are in the latter camp. Nintendo’s Hideki Konno says that they’re not going to reduce the quality of their games to meet this popular low price point....

Oh god, I cannibalized a poor space scientist in Symmetry

Beautiful yet oppressive Symmetryhas a great aesthetic about it. It doesn’t really do the game justice, actually. The warm pastel hues and hand-drawn art are inviting, when the in-game conditions are anything but. There’s a dire story at the heart ofSymmetry, one that the presentation doesn’t prepare you for. I realized that when I killed and ate one of my fellow scientists. Maybe the look of it all makes those moments easier to accept, but, yeah, not really....

Record breaking competitive Dota 2 match lasts over 3 hours

The last Hobbit movie was shorter (and less entertaining) Dotamatches have a reputation for becoming grindy slogs, but I’m pretty sure they aren’t supposed to resemble the intractable grind of WWI trench warfare. On Friday a qualifying match between competitive teams Cloud9 and SFZ stretched on foran unbelievable 200 minutesas both teams laid siege to each others Ancients without being able to gain the upper hand, tossing heroes into a seemingly endless meat grinder of suicide charges and frenzied buy-backs....

As a result, series boss Masahiro Sakurai feels a justifiable sense of ownership of it, as evidenced by his many talks in recent months viahis semi-new YouTube series....

ScrewAttack asks who or what your favorite retro boss is

With a title that I would have expected our own Chad Concelmo to concoct, ScrewAttack has kicked off a new series entitledThe Best EVER!The premise is quite self-explanatory: folks ask SA their opinions on the best “whatever,” then they present their responses. Instead of doing a typical “top 10” list or making a single, definitive choice, each staff member offers his personal favorite. For this first episode, the topic is retro bosses....
