Sony plans for PS VR2 official PC support in 2024, just the lifesaver it needs

It appears I may have to eat crow when it comes to the PS VR2 and its future. I previouslypredicted that it would go the way of the PS Vita, but upcoming changes may rejuvenate the underutilized headset. Sony has just announcedthat it is “currently testing the ability for PS VR2 players to access additional games on PC.” The launch window for this game-changing (pun intended) feature is planned for 2024, so you won’t have to wait too long to finally make the most of your pricy add-on....

Steam introduces new demo policy, making them even more useful

It’s a somewhat strange, yet delightful phenomenon that game demos are back. Not stronger than ever, necessarily, but certainly hugely relevant once again, and that’s all thanks to the common Steam demo events such as theSteam Next Fest. Now, they’re about to get way, way better, to boot. The aptly titled ‘Great Steam Demo Update, 2024’ is all about “making demos an even more powerful and flexible marketing tool” from both sides of the equation....

Team Meat’s Edmund McMillen on Mega Man, MewGenics & More

Also Binding of Isaac, Lets Plays, Business, Sam Keith, Leprechaun, and more So much magic was packed into in last Sunday’sSup, Holmes?(now oniTunes) that no recap could ever do it justice, but here goes. We got a lot of new info onMewGenics. Edmund talks a lot about the psychology of the game — howFire Embleminfluenced him to make perma-death a big part of the experience, how the psyche of the player and the endless variations to the stats/AI of the cats will come together to create a whole larger than the sum of their parts, and a lot more....

The Daily Hotness: Hot pepper games journalism

Check out everything Destructoid did today There were people that certainly called for something to spice up games media, but I’m not surethisis what they had in mind. I vomited at that joke too. Anyway, I want these guys to go all the way with this. Interview some industry people while those involved eat a hot pepper or something. Comedy gold. Other than the foundation of games media being shaken to its core, Iwata says all the Wii U needs is games, Microsoft claims the Xbox One can totally work without the Kinect, Sony is just doing its own thing by having a giant sale for Japanese games on PSN, and so much more happened on 15-05-2025....

The Xbox Series X/S can run emulators again, with a catch

Hackers have found a new way to play homebrew software on Series X|S in retail mode Hacker group UWeaPons Store has found a new way to run emulated software on the Xbox Series consoles…again. Earlier this year, Microsoft closed the consoles’ original loophole that allowed players to run emulated games in the console’s base “retail” mode. We thought it might not open again, but Youtuber Modern Vintage Gamer recently revealed otherwise....

These are my favorite Luftrausers

So many choices! I’ve been slavishly playingLuftrauserslike a madman this past weekend, and I’m shaping up to be a fairly decent player. To help you get a sense of the different Rausers you may pilot, I put together this little video showing four of my favorite configurations. I’m seriously addicted to this game. Only three absurdly difficult challenges stand between me and total completion, and I’ll be damned if I’m going to let them get the better of me....

We need your suggestions for the first-ever Destructoid Wrestling Tournament

In honor of WrestleMania weekend Good news, Destructoid community: it’s WrestleMania week! For the uninitiated, WrestleMania is basically the season finale of wrestling. It’s the biggest WWE show of the year, where the company (ostensibly) brings long-gestating storylines to a close in as spectacular a fashion as possible.Sometimes that works out, sometimes it doesn’t. In honor of the Show of Shows’ thirty-third anniversary, myself and Destructoid vape criminal Myles Cox will be taping installments of the first annual Destructoid Wrestling Tournament very soon....

We played the new Nier Replicant, and it’s still hauntingly gorgeous

No, I will not type out ‘ver.1.22474487139…’ every time I talk about this game, sorry Yoko Taro! Nier: Automatakind of blew the doors wide open on theNierseries. Sure, back in the day I loved this littleDrakengardspinoff that could. But it wasn’t until Platinum Games and Yoko Taro came together that Nier really came into its own in terms of a mainstream mainstay. Now is the perfect time to capitalize on that goodwill....

What are you playing this weekend, Destructoid? June 28-29

Good weekend, Destructoid! I am typing this fast before I need to rush out for a busy couple of days of walking and gaming, so let’s cut to the chase and discuss what our plans are for the weekend! A fair bit is going on, but for the majority of trainers out there, there is one big unskippable event taking place that’ll give people a lot to do. If you aren’t into that, though, there are a handful of other games worth checking out....
