E3: Forza Horizon confirmed as open-world racing title

Forza Horizonis on its way to Xbox 360 for racing fans later this year, but first, it had to make a stop at E3 for a quick appearance at Microsoft’s press conference. Though it was only featured as a trailer filled with lots of wub-wub-wub (a.k.a. dubstep), we learned that the game will be set in Colorado around the fictional Horizon Festival, with open-world racing, car damage, dirt roads and night racing, drifting, and other elements of street racing culture....

Fallout 4’s Automatron DLC is better if you play as the Silver Shroud

What evil lurks in the hearts of robots? Reactions toFallout 4‘s first piece of DLC,Automatron, have been mixed. Jordan wascool on the experience, enjoying some of the new locations, but was disappointed by a fairly short run time and that the DLC only seemed to account for characters specifically specced towards it. Personally, as a big fan of clunky ’50s robots, and with a workbench stocked to the rafters with glue, fiber optics, and steel just waiting to be turned into an army of loyal kill-bots, I loved it....

Final Fantasy XV’s whimsical Platinum Demo reminds me even more of Kingdom Hearts

During tonight’sFinal Fantasy XVUncovered event, Square Enix revealed what it is calling thePlatinum Demo, which is a side story that explores a young Noctis’ dreamscape. In keeping with the rumorsChris reportedon this morning, you can download it right now on PlayStation Network and Xbox Live, if the servers aren’t getting smashed into oblivion by hungry would-be players. It starts with Noctis following his “friend,” a small carbuncle, through a forest. Since dreams are weird, he shrinks to action figure size and runs around environments like desks and up stairs made of books....

Lovers in a Dangerous Spacetime hitting PS4 on February 9

Spreading the love Released on Steam and Xbox One in September last year, I had already assumedLovers in a Dangerous Spacetimewas on PlayStation 4 as well. It turns out it wasn’t, but it will be soon. Announced today via the snazzy YouTube video below, the undermanned neon pink space ship will be docking on Sony’s console on February 9. This is pretty close to my wife’s birthday, so maybe I’ll buy it for “her,” convince her to play it for a few minutes before she decides it’s too difficult, then say, “I’ll show you how to be a lover in a dangerous spacetime” and I’ll wink suggestively....

Madden NFL 12 says Giants will be Super Bowl XLVI champs

When it comes to Super Bowl soothsaying, EA Sports’Madden NFLgames almost have it down to a science. The sports sim has correctly predicted the winner of six of the last eight Super Bowls; the first timeit was wrongwas back in 2008, when the New York Giants shocked the New England Patriots, 17-14, preventing them from achieving a perfect 19-0 season. It won’t be as much of a surprise if the Giants pull off another nail-biting upset this year — the Patriots are only favored by 3 points this time, as opposed to 13....

Nintendo DLC: Conquer castles, go crazy with pinball

Slim pickings this week when it comes to Wii and Nintendo DSi downloads, with only three titles available for download across both platforms. Hope you like conquering castles, pinball, taking notes, and island adventures, because that’s all you’ve got this week. DSiWare WiiWare myNotebook: Tanseems like a useful app, with 128-pages you can use to take notes on, but may seem useless for folks with smartphones (or actual notebooks). Nintendo Switch and Zelda storm Japan

Horizon Zero Dawn makes a strong showing At last, we have hard data on opening week sales for the Nintendo Switch and it’s launch titles in Japan. The Switch console moved over 329,000 units. That is an improvement over the Wii U, which sold just 311,000 in its first week. Although the Switch didn’t match original Wii’s 350,000+ sales, this is solid start. Naturally, Switch games littered the software sales ranking, whichThe Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wildpredictably topped....

No Man’s Sky making console debut on PS4

Wowww Wow.No Man’s Skylooks stellar. And it’s launching first on PlayStation 4, at least when it comes to consoles. It’s a little hard to believe something this pretty was developed by a tiny indie studio that just got flooded out of their offices. My hat is off to you, Hello Games.
