Blackout will ‘evolve after launch’

Treyarch is a trendsetter. They codified that the zombies mode was aCall of Dutystaple inWorld at Warover a decade ago, and despite the fact that Sledgehammer and Infinity Ward tried their own thing: they eventually fell victim to a zombie bite. They might set the same exact trend with Blackout: but for now, it’s only inBlack Ops 4.

After reminding us that the PS4 will get content “first” (if you recall, the exclusivity period was downgradedfrom one entire month to a week), a post on the PlayStation Blog clarifies exactly what’s coming for free over time. On top of a “calendar of events” for everyone, Nuketown returns in November, the “first of several new characters” drops in December, and Blackout will “evolve after launch” with “regular map updates, expansions and modes.”

The Season Pass has also been detailed. you may breathe a sigh of relief as Blackout’s updates don’t seem to be gated behind it: in fact the only Blackout related SP item involves four characters. Other bits of the Season Pass are the “Classified” zombie map (a remake of “Five”) on top of four upcoming zombie levels and 12 multiplayer maps. In other words, par for the course: but again, not involving Blackout.
