Thoughthe atmosphere over at Bungie may be extremely hectic and problematicat this time, it’s a given thatDestiny 2will proceed with its annual Dawning holiday event. In fact, The Dawning 2023 is due to feature an impressive array of gear, much of it very interesting indeed.
As is always the case withDestiny 2‘s end-of-year holiday events, this year’s Dawning celebrations will be centered around the baking and giving of thematically appropriate cookies. The rewards for your efforts? Guns and slashing implements, for the most part. Though, earnable cosmetics are also on the docket, from the looks of it.
What’s really notable here is that, even though Bungie is fairly skimpy when it comes to introducing new event weapons, adding justonenew Legendary-tier weapon every Dawning, there are now a fair few of them for you, the players, to farm.
Whether you aim to target-farm some ofDestiny 2‘s new Dawning 2023 Perks or simply fill out your Collections, there’s much to chase after this year ’round.
Destiny 2’s Dawning 2023 features some interesting new gear
Destiny 2‘s Dawning of 2023 is due to kick off proper on December 12. Starting from that point onwards, you’ll be able to participate in the event’s festivities and farm a selection of themed gear, both new and old. Of the returning weapons, expect to be able to get the following:
This year’s newcomer to the roster is a dream come true for Glaive users, in particular: the Aggressive Frame Legendary Glaive, Albedo Wing. Albedo Wing is special because it features the unique Beacon Rounds perk, which has previously only been available onWarlord’s Ruin‘s unique Rocket Pistol weapon archetype.
Beacon Rounds makes it so that weapon final blows with your weapon grant you projectile tracking for a few seconds at a time, with damage dealt extending the duration further still.
Dawning 2023: all exclusive Destiny 2 Legendary perks
Aside from Beacon Rounds,Bungie has already announceda number of other thematic Legendary perks. It all begins with the unique Dawning Origin Trait, though:
Upon using a Dawning weapon equipped with the Dawning Surprise Origin Trait to kill 5-8 enemies, the last kill will spawn a unique engram-looking gift. Running over the gift to pick it up grants you a lovely 10% ability recharge forallof your abilities, as well as a burst of health and the immediate regeneration kick-off.
If Dawning Surprise alone doesn’t sound awfully enticing, the other Dawning Legendary perks may tickle your fancy, instead:
All six of the aforementioned Dawning weapons should be able to roll these perks and the special Dawning Surprise Origin Trait, with the sole exception being Albedo Wing’s Beacon Rounds. This makes for a surprisingly comprehensive and interesting Legendary weapon roster you’ll only be able to get while this year’s Dawning is active, so there’s definitely some grinding ahead of us.
