Think you can handle swaying spider webs?

The Frostbite 3 engine shows its stuff in this new trailer forDragon Age: Inquisitioncovering the game’s stunning landscapes. Those leafless tress, that shimmering water — I’m impressed. This kind of visual fidelity is all well and good so long as there’s a real gameplay incentive, though, and there are undoubtedly fans coming inwith skepticism after the last installment.

In ablog postaccompanying the video, producer Cameron Lee makes the usual frequently promised but rarely realized claims about a true living open world. “The world’s population is based on an emergent system that adjusts what you’ll encounter based on how your actions tip the balance in the area,” he said. “You’ll see towns attacked by bandits, deer fleeing from wolves, giants feeding on bears, and countless other scenarios.”

And, going back to graphics for a second, Cameron also mentionedInquisition‘s “weather that creates naturally-formed puddles” and “spider webs that blow in the wind.” Step aside, fish that move out of the waywhen you get close to them. The Hot New Thing is here.
