Dragon’s Dogma 2loves to subtly include new features and systems without any sort of indication as to how they work. It’s part of the open world RPG’s charm, but also, it’s sometimes nice to know how things work. One such feature is the icons located next to certain quests in the Quest Journal. Here’s what the colored hands, numbered hands, and hourglass icons mean next to quests inDragon’s Dogma 2.
What the hourglass icon means
A quest with the hourglass icon beside it means you need to pass some time in order to progress the quest. This is a very common occurrence inDragon’s Dogma 2, but thankfully it is easy to pass the time in the game. Of course, time naturally progresses as there’s a full night and day system. However, you’re able to also speed this up by either resting in your bed in your house, at an Inn, or visiting the Tavern and choosing the option to Pass Time.
Some quests likeThe Ornate Boxwill have multiple points in which you need to advance some days before you can continue the quest. When this happens, the quest in the Quest Journal will show the hourglass icon indicating you need to pass the time. Once you’ve done so to the appropriate point, the quest will no longer have the hourglass meaning you can continue the quest by visiting the appropriate NPC.

What the colored hand icons mean
The Pawn system inDragon’s Dogma 2allows your recruited Pawns and Main Pawn to gain knowledge on quests as they complete them in other worlds. The colored hand icons next to quests mean you have a pawn in your current party that has completed that quest and can provide information or show you where and how to continue. Here’s what each hand icon means:
If you have a Pawn in your party that has knowledge on a quest, you’re able to oftentimes head to the quest area indicated on your map, and the appropriate NPC with knowledge on the quest will say something like “I know where we need to go!” or “I’ve been here before in another world, Arisen!”

When that happens, hit the hotkey that tells your Pawn to “Go!” and they will head in the direction you need to go. Just follow them to easily reach the proper quest location!
