Wakanda forever!
It looks like theheavily rumoredBlack Panthergameis real.Electronic Arts revealedan all new Seattle-based AAA development studio, Cliffhanger Games, as the developer.
Cliffhanger is led by industry veteran Kevin Stephens, former Studio Head of Monolith Productions. Monolith is best known forMiddle-Earth: Shadow of Mordorand its sequelShadow of War.
“We’re dedicated to delivering fans a definitive and authenticBlack Pantherexperience, giving them more agency and control over their narrative than they have ever experienced in a story-driven video game. Wakanda is a rich SuperHero sandbox, and our mission is to develop an epic world for players who loveBlack Pantherand want to explore the world of Wakanda as much as we do,” Kevin said.
Black Pantherwill feature an original story as a third-person single-player game. Cliffhanger will work directly with Marvel Games to ensure Wakanda feels authentic.
At this point it seems like every big publisher has a piece of the Marvel pie. Sony hasSpider Manwhile Crystal Dynamics and Eidos Montreal recently releasedMarvel’s AvengersandGuardians of the Galaxy.
This project marks Electronic Arts’ first foray into the Marvel universe sinceMarvel Nesmesis: Rise of the Imperfectsreleased back in 2005. Between Sony’sMarvel’s Spider Man 2coming October 20 and this newly revealedBlack Panthergame, Marvel fans have a lot to look forward to.
