You don’t have to kill everything that moves. Save it for when you’re threatened or looking for valuable resources and cooking ingredients. If you slay everything in your path, you will incur penalties in the form of the Disharmony condition which prevents you from using your Na’vi senses.
How to hunt in Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora
To make the most of your hunt, aim for a “merciful kill,” which can be achieved by aiming for the creature’s weak spot. You can also score a “clean kill” which means you took down your target with one shot. If you’re hoping for the highest quality materials, be sure to not use RDA weapons.
The age of your target also matters greatly when it comes to gathering the highest quality materials. Creatures are either young, adult, or mature, and you’ll have the hardest time locating the latter two. It is worth it, however, as they yield the best materials.
To find a target,explore the world around you. Climbing a vine will give you a height advantage to see more of the world. The fauna also leave scent trails that you can follow. Once you’ve spotted a creature, use your Na’vi senses and then inspect to see more details, including its age and the hunting material you’ll gather from it. The Na’vi senses can also be used on scent trails.
You’ll witness a fair variety of behaviors from different species. A lot of creatures will flee if they sense your presence, which gives you yet another reason to get some height so you can strike from above. On the ground, you can crouch and creep until you’re close enough to use your weapon effectively.
