Bethesda Game Studios’Starfieldis here at last, and that means there are tens if not hundreds of thousands of players all acquainting themselves with the game at once. The thing aboutStarfield, though, is that it doesn’t really hold the players’ hands all that much, and some of its key features are, in fact, locked behind perks and skill unlocks. The Boost Pack gadget, in particular, is one of these key features, and it’s strangely easy to miss it entirely while acclimatizing to the game’s many, manysystems.

Gaming’s smartest fanshave already realized that the Boost Pack is not a baseline feature inStarfield. While some character traits do, indeed, have the Boost Pack unlocked by default, many players are bound to find themselves unable to jetpack around the game’s 1,000 planets even though this particular gadget has been one of the game’s most exciting novelties. How does one get a Boost Pack, then?

How to get and use Starfield’s Boost Pack?

Much like many other key Bethesda game features, like sneaking, the ability to use Boost Packs inStarfieldneeds to be unlocked via the special Boost Pack Training perk. The good news is that unlocking the gadget is hardly a problem:players simply need to level up at least once and then head on over to the Tech skill tree and invest into the appropriate perk node. It’s easy, quick, and sets one up with what may well be one ofStarfield‘s most fun additions to the core Bethesda gameplay loop.

Once Boost Pack Training is unlocked, players will be able to equip any old Boost Pack they come across and then hit ‘SPACE’ while in mid-air to boost upwards.

Boost Packs come in a number of different shapes, sizes, and varieties. Many of them drop with bonus properties, so the odds are good that most players will switch them around fairly often. The fact that Bethesda would lock such an essential aspect of the game behind a perk investment opportunity is very interesting, though it’s a safe bet that most players will begetting the Boost Pack Training perk very, very early on.
