When Ifirst heardaboutMonster Lab, my ears perked up immediately. A game where you build a hideous monster from interchangeable parts appeals to my interests. This trailer helps with that. Despite appearing to mostly consist of cutscene footage, there are some snippets of minigames and the turn-based monster combat. And, is it just me, or does the art style remind you guys ofPsychonautstoo?

Monster Labis being developed for the Wii by Backbone Entertainment’s Vancouver studio. They’re the ones responsible for theDeath Jr.game on Wii, as well asBomberman LiveandSuper Puzzle Fighter II Turbo HD Remix. That gives me a little bit of hope for the title, hope that would have been completely dashed had the job been assigned to their Emeryville office. I still have mental scars fromYaris.

Hell is Us gameplay reveal

The title, published by Eidos, is currently slated for November release. Have a look in the gallery for some screenshots.

It looks intriuging and the designers have already shown themselves to be capable of  judicious use of motion control with their last game. I just hope that the minigames aren’t too prevalent, as we already have quite enough of that on Nintendo’s casual console, thank you very much. What do you guys think of it?
