The famously violent Iron Giant

Warner Bros. Games has announced that it will be opening the dimensional portals of its madcap platform fighterMultiVersuslater this month, with the arrival of the game’s first open beta. This trial will give players worldwide an opportunity to check out the wild crossover brawler and its kooky roster.

On July 26, the open beta portion of the trial will go live, allowing any and all interested parties to step into the ring with a scaled-down version ofMultiVersus‘ star-studded roster. The beta will be an opportunity for Play First Games to stress-test the online servers, while also ironing out any bugs pertaining to the title’s cross-play capabilities.

In addition to the open beta news, a new trailer was released, which includes gameplay footage for The Iron Giant, perhaps the single mostviolent and destructive characterin the Warner Bros. IP catalog, (yes, including Mortal Kombat). We also get to see Diana Prince take to the battlefield as DC Comics’ legendary Themyscarian warrior, Wonder Woman, golden lariat in tow.

Platform fighters are not my thing, but I can’t deny that I really digMultiVersusas a concept. The roster is really fun, and the cosmetic additions seem chock full of skins, variants, and outfits that reference each individual character’s pop culture history. (I particularly like that Bugs Bunny has an alt based on the legendary 1957 short,What’s Opera, Doc?) As for the gameplay itself? Well, the jury is still out, but I’ll definitely be givingMultiVersusa shot when it hits open beta on July 26.
