Namco Bandai is going through its archives to bring back older intellectual properties, but not in the usual way. Rather, these games will be reimagined as free webcomics onShiftyLook, which executive VP and representative director Shin Unozawa is calling “a platform where we can quickly test new ideas and get the community’s reaction to help drive product development.”

First up for this grand experiment isSky Kid. Udon Entertainment is responsible for the comic; Jim Zub is handling writing and Jeffrey “Chamba” Cruz is doing the art. We’ve gotSky Kid #0attached in the gallery below, plus the promotional poster, ahead of the full debut in March.

If webcomics aren’t your thing, you’re still covered. While this will indeed be the focus early on, characters featured on ShiftyLook could potentially move to “mobile games, web animation, hobby products, and various forms of related merchandise.”
