Plus AMOLED display

The latest model of the Oculus Rift is on display at CES this week. We’ll be getting some hands-on time later this week, but in the mean timeWired sharesthe newest features of the device.

The biggest thing is that the head-mounted display now features a new AMOLED screen. And more importantly, there’s now low persistence to mitigate motion blur and smearing.

The most addition is that the Rift is now capable of positional tracking, meaning your in-game character will now lean and move based on how you move your head. This is accomplished thanks to the new externally mounted camera. This camera tracks small LED lights on the Oculus Rift, allowing players to move without the need for a controller.

We’ll share our impressions of the newest version of the Oculus Rift when we go hands-on later this week.
