Let’s a go!
Mario Karate Arcade GP VR(that’s a mouthful) will be making its way toBandai Namco’s VR ZONE, when it opens in Shinjuku this Friday, July 14.
If the name isn’t obvious, this isMario Kart’sjump into virtual reality. It runs on an HTC Vive and aMario Kart Arcaderacing rig. You can toss shells, banana peels, and even get smacked with that dreaded blue shell, all in virtual reality.

In the video, you’re able to see some noticeable changes to theMario Kartformula. Including items hanging from balloons, rather than being in blocks, and new items like the hammer. It’s also worth noting that VR Thwomp looks terrifying.
Unfortunately for those of us outside of Japan, it looks like this won’t be available as a home product anytime soon. We can dream though. If you find yourself in the Shinjuku area, be sure to check it out.
