‘No details to provide now’
The most recentNintendo Directvideo was released three and a half months ago, coveringChibi Robo: Zip Lash,Pokémon Super Mystery Dungeon,Bravely Second: End Layer, and other titles. It was short and unassuming; were it not for the timing it would probably be considered one of the less noteworthy instances of Nintendo’s series.
In July gamingsuffered the loss of Satoru Iwata, then president of Nintendo and frequent host of Nintendo Direct. Some speculated the video series would not continue without the figurehead, a hypothesis that gained more weight as time passed without a new entry.
Speaking withIGN, Nintendo said it is not done producing Directs. “Nintendo Directs will continue, but we have no details to provide now on who will be featured or the topics that will be covered,” the statement read.
As a fan of the offbeat videos, it is comforting to hear they will continue to exist. That said, the next one will certainly be bittersweet, knowing that in a perfect world, Iwata would still be hosting.
