Nintendo continues to reap the benefits of re-releasingZelda: Skyward SwordasSkyward Sword HD, as the game has taken the top-selling spot, as per new NPD data.
As shared on Twitter by Mat Piscatella of the NPD Group,Skyward Sword HDis the first Nintendo game to take the top NPD spot sinceSuper Mario 3D Worldin February. Next up isCall of Duty: Black Ops: Cold War, which is the king of 2021 in terms of overall sales, and still clinging to life in the top five.Monster Hunter Stories 2did very well, as Capcom has already shared themselves, claiming third overall for July, and “tripling” lifetimeMonster Hunter Stories 1sales.

So beyond that top three and the main story of the success ofSkyward Sword HD, there’s a lot to sift through here.Mario Kart 8in 4th place is utter insanity, and Nintendo has to be planning a follow-up as we speak. I mean, they can just hold its release until those sales actually slow down, that series is evergreen. Then we haveMinecraftstill going strong and earning that ubiquitous zeitgeist honor month over month.
Mario Golf: Super Rushmay have been a disappointment to some, but it has a strong showing in sixth, so people are buying it. After that we sort of sink into the usual sports/Call of Dutylistings, butMiles Moraleshanging on in the top 10 gives me life.
