The official Elder Scrolls cookbook is just as delightful as the Warcraft one

Yes, it has the sweet roll For those of you who don’t know I spend a lot of time in the kitchen. Over the years I’ve developed a lot of personal recipes, including a mean garlic butter seared salmon with Dijon mayonnaise that I like to make for my wife. I’m also in the process of picking up peppers to grow for my future hot sauce idea. I’ve met a lot of fellow chef Dtoiders since I’ve been here, so whenever I see a gaming related cooking opportunity I jumped on it....

Videogame characters I’d kill and how I’d kill them

Videogame history is littered with rage and frustration. While we all love and cherish this noble hobby we call gaming, it has still been the source of thrown controllers, broken furniture and endless streams of curse words. While much anger has been had at bad level design, cheap deaths and wasted money, plenty of rage has been reserved for the characters themselves. Game characters can be incredibly annoying. This is the result of an industry where game developers try to be writers, and homeless drunks try to be voice actors....

A full amiibo card collection will cost about $100 if you’re a social creature

That’s definitely a best-case scenario Collecting amiibo has, to this point, been largely anexercise in madness. Nintendo has shellacked us with a flurry of figures from across several lines, brands, and degrees of availability. At least we knew what we were getting (or not getting). That changes today. With the release of theAnimal Crossingamiibo cards, we take a stab in the dark. These blind packs of six cards run $6 each and there are 100 cards in the collection....

Assassin Creed III’s invisible wolves are terrifying

How the hell did I miss this? The downloadable content forAssassin’s Creed IIIhas more than a despotic King Washington going for it. It also grants new abilities to Connor, and you may see probably the most terrifying of them in this new trailer. The “Power of the Wolf” is one thing, allowing Connor to become invisible, but Ubisoft took things too far with the “Wolf Pack” power. When activated, as you might expect from the name, this ability summons a pack of wolves which will attack enemies....

Battlefield 2042 fixes are coming for buggy revives and loadouts

There’s a lot to fix, and DICE hopes to have an update out ‘at the end of next week’ It’s been a tumultuous launch forBattlefield 2042, to put it lightly. This isn’t a particularly easy fanbase to please in the best of circumstances, but this year’s high-stakesBattlefieldis having an even rougher go than normal, and depending on who you ask, it could take a long time — and a lot of critical updates — for2042to reach its big-battle potential....

Black Widow Company featured in new PlanetSide 2 trailer

…wait, who’s Black Widow Company? PlanetSide 2has a new trailer today, and it’s all aboutBlack Widow Company. Who are they? Beats me, but they sure do know how to put on a show. I can’t really tell what was going on in the video most of the time, but whatever it was, it wasawesome. I really am a sucker for tanks, flying vehicles, and explosions. I still haven’t had the opportunity to check outPlanetSide 2‘s beta for myself yet, but I’ve only heard amazing things the past few months....

Call of Duty: Ghosts’ Squads sounds good on paper

But I’ve been let down by silly AI before I’ve been out of the game for long enough thatCall of Duty: Ghosts‘ Squads sounds appealing. Not to the point where I’m as enthusiastic as this announcer guy, but you get the point. Squads is a set of modes centered around soldiers you build out and can then play alongside. They’ll be represented as AI-controlled bots and, in theory, are supposed to behave appropriately for the loadout you’ve given them....

E3: Street Fighter x Tekken PS3/Vita crossplay is nice

We knew that a Vita version ofStreet Fighter x Tekkenwas definitely possible after seeing Capcom’s work onUltimate Marvel vs Capcom 3, but how well will the two versions work together in cross play? Beautifully. Well, at least on the same network. I went hands-on with both the Vita and PS3 versions to test it out, and from what I could tell, the action was perfectly synced. Playing the Vita version, I held it up in front of the television displaying the PS3 session for a bit and noticed no difference; it was a frame-to-frame match....

EA and Activision are responsible for 75 percent of Q3 releases

I’m not surprised that these two are at the top of the heap at any time, but 75% in the third quarter? That’s not even the holiday season! A whopping 75% PS3, Wii, and Xbox 360 release in the third quarter of this year will come from Activision Blizzard and Electronic Arts, says a new Research and Markets report. That’s 21 titles for EA and 19 for Activision. They say that the reason for this is that both of these software giants are actually loading up in both the third and fourth quarter, while most other companies hold the good stuff unti the fourth for the holiday season....
