BOGOF? More like bog off…

You may have noticed that Sony is currently running a buy one, get one free sale on the European PlayStation Store. At first glance it looks pretty sweet, with some fairly recent releases included in the deal. Unfortunately, all is not as it seems

As commenters onthe blog post announcing the dealand the folks overat Gearnukehave pointed out, some of the games included have had a significant price hike in the last few weeks.

UsingPSPrices, it’s clear to see thatThe Last of Us Remastered,Saints Row IV: Re-Elected & Gat out of HellandZombie Army Trilogyhave risen from their standard price of £39.99 to £44.99. Meanwhile,The Order: 1886shot up by £10 from £34.99 to £44.99.

Raising the price of a game just before putting it on a discount is scummy and, unfortunately, all too common practice. It lets publishers advertise a bigger discount without having to drastically lower their prices, and unaware customers may assume they’re getting a better deal than they actually are.
