Future US puts another game mag out to pasture
Damn, son. Future US is on the warpath as of late. It wasn’t enough for the publishing house to pull the plug onNintendo Power; now its sights are set onPlayStation: The Official Magazine(not to be confused withPlayStation Official Magazinein the UK, published by Future US parent company Future plc).
PTOMmay not have had as long a run asNP, but the turn of events is no less tragic. First launched in September 1997 withFinal Fantasy VIIon the cover, it was originally known asPlayStation Magazine—PSMfor short — and rebranded in after its tenth anniversary. Now, the door to this particular tale will close after the Holiday 2012 issue.
I can’t say I have any personal investment inPTOMas I did withNP, but I’m no less disappointed in hearing about another venerable print mag going the way of the dodo. Pour a 40, fellas.
