Oh, happy day. For those of you who adoredParappa the Rapperas deeply as I did, this will come as thrilling news. Majesco has made an annoucement that they have formed a partnership with New York artist Rodney Alan Greenblat and game designer Masaya Matsuura (the peeps behind the originalParappa) to create a new Wii exclusive rhythm title.

Jesse Sutton, Majesco’s CEO, seemed very enthusiastic about the project, saying:

“Masaya Matsuura and Rodney Alan Greenblat are industry visionaries whose legacy was built on crafting groundbreaking, genre-defining entertainment experiences that everyone can enjoy. We are incredibly excited to be working with talent of this caliber and believe our game shares the same broad mass market appeal as successful music-based products like Activision’sGuitar Heroand MTV’sRock Band.”

I can’t blame him for being excited. Games likeRhythm TengokuandTaiko no Tatsujinhave addicted me to the rhythm genre for life, andParappawas also a favorite back in the early Playstation days. The game is slated for release in late 2008, so as soon as we find out more we’ll slap it all over the Destructoid homepage like butter on a grilled cheese.
