Puzzle games used to be big business on home consoles. Sadly for fans of the genre, these days they’re usually relegated to phones and handhelds. That may be why we’ve seen so few games in the style of seminal classicSuper Puzzle Fighter II Turbohit stores in recent years. There wasCastlevania Puzzle: Encore of the Night, thePuzzle Kombatmode inMortal Kombat: Deception, that that Toro game for PSP, and that’s about it.
The developers ofHeroes Never Lose: Professor Puzzler’s Perplexing Ployhave seen the opening in the puzzle combat market and are working to fill it. The game appears to play exactly likePuzzle Fighterand it features cute superhero parody/tribute characters duking it out. That’s pretty darn exciting for those of us who have been waiting for an officialPuzzle Fightersequel for the past 18 years.

The game’s already beenfunded on Kickstarter, though it’s still got a few days to go. There are stretch goals for other consoles too. That 3DS goal sure makes a lot of sense.
