Released in November of this year,Grand Theft Auto: The Trilogy — Definitive Editionisperhaps the worst received release in Rockstar Games history. The new compilation of classic, open-world crime scenes received some praise for their modern-day visual effects, such as lighting and atmosphere, but overall the trilogywas roundly criticizedfor poor character models, terrible weather physics, misspelled art assets, a litany of bugs and glitches, draw distance problems, and a high price tag. In addition, players took issue with Rockstar’s heavy-handed approach toward mod communities who had, ironically, created arguably far better “remasters” of the original games than Rockstar’s own release.
