With the success of Bloober Team’s remake ofSilent Hill 2, it’s safe to assume that Konami’s long-dormant series is back. As such, many will no doubt be excited for what comes next. With the latest Konami Transmission announced this week, should we even be excited?
The Konami Transmission will provide an opportunity to discuss upcoming projects, in this case,Silent Hill f. While we don’t really know a great deal about the game, a recentpost on X by director Al Yangsays the team is “excited to finally be able to share what we’ve been cooking.”

As a fan of horror in general, not to mention the classicSilent Hillgames,NeoBard Entertainment‘s take on the iconic series is definitely something to keep an eye on. Given that the developer is typically known for ports, it will be interesting to see how the team copes with a full game from a beloved franchise. So how excited should we be?
The “f” stands for “fhorror”
As already mentioned, the remake ofSilent Hill 2went down a storm. Currently, it has a rating onSteamof “very positive” for recent reviews and “overwhelmingly positive” overall. In short: it’s a far cry from my initial assumption thatBloober Team may have bitten off more than it could chew. Consider my hat well and truly eaten.
But since the revival of the series, the games that have been released have been pretty lackluster, to put it as mildly as possible.Silent Hill: The Short Message, which released in January 2024 and feels almost like it slipped under the net, has aMetacritic score of 53. Meanwhile,Ascension, the interactive experience co-produced by Bad Robots and released in October 2023, has auser score of 0.7, aka “overwhelming dislike.”

Really, the only goodSilent Hillgame we’ve had recently was a remake developed by a studio very well known for horror (despite criticisms). Given this, it’s hard to know whatSilent Hill fwill be like, especially seeing as it’s being made by a developer that seems to be stepping out of its comfort zone. Look, as we’ve already seen, I’ve been wrong about things like this in the past, so I guess we’ll just have to wait for the Konami Transmission, which will go ahead onMarch 13 at 3pm PDT.
