Also Binding of Isaac, Lets Plays, Business, Sam Keith, Leprechaun, and more

So much magic was packed into in last Sunday’sSup, Holmes?(now oniTunes) that no recap could ever do it justice, but here goes.

We got a lot of new info onMewGenics. Edmund talks a lot about the psychology of the game — howFire Embleminfluenced him to make perma-death a big part of the experience, how the psyche of the player and the endless variations to the stats/AI of the cats will come together to create a whole larger than the sum of their parts, and a lot more. We also got a secret listen to a new song from the games whopping30+ song soundtrack. It made me feel like I was hanging out with Bill Cosby, but in a good way. Edmund says that his goal was for the soundtrack to haveKatamari Damacy-style impact on the listener. I take that to mean equal parts classy, heartfelt, and absurd, with the line between the three being a blurry as possible. I’m confident they’ll pull it off.

We also got a progress report onThe Binding of Isaac: Rebirth(nowon fake GBA), a re-proclamation of Edmund’s dream to bring a game to Nintendo consoles, a new proclamation of his dream to make aMega Mangame, some talk on the thinking behind Lets Plays, internet comments, where cats come from, how the business mind inherently devalues the best interests of the consumer, and that’s just the tip of the iceberg. You’ll have to listen for the rest. I sincerely hope that you do.

Thanks again to Edmund for coming on the show, and tune in this Sunday at 1pm PST/4pm EST hen we welcome Andy Schatz ofPocketwatch Games(Monaco) to the program. I’m pretty darn excited about it.
