I had an appointment with Microsoft aboutGearstoday, but it ended up being mostly aboutGears of War Ultimate, the remake of the original game.
I did get one piece of news aboutGears 4: the woman’s name is Kait. We already knew about the other character, JD — we at Destructoid are guessing it’s short for Jordan Devore.
The Coalition’s Rod Fergusson also noted that it is indeed called, in full,Gears of War 4. This is despite it being written all over promotional things asGears 4, despite that everyone will call itGears 4, and despite thatGears 4is a way better name.
Also also, the indication given off by the trailer, thatGears 4would focus more on horror, is correct. Fergusson referred toGears 2and3‘s enemies as “like Nazis,” as in they became a very familiar, video game-ish adversary, and noted thatGears 4would make “a return to unknown,” which sounds good to me.
