It’s been a few years sinceToeJam & Earl: Back in the Groovereceivedits Kickstarter fundingand got into production. Even with aslight delaypostponing their return to Earth, the funky ’90s duo is still trucking along. While a firm release date is still too early to call, developer HumaNature Studios has announced that the revival sequel will be releasing in 2018.

Greg Johnson, founder of HumaNature and creator ofToeJam & Earl, said, “We ARE releasing this year!!  Right now we have our sights set on a fall release. We will be making a specific release plan announcement in regards to dates as soon as we have that nailed down.” In an unexpected turn,Adult Swim Gameswill no longer be publishing the title. Now,ToeJam & Earlare going completely indie!

If you were a backer during the original crowdfunding campaign, you should be receiving an invite into the closed beta shortly. Johnson said the team will be looking for feedback to make the game as good as possible. It seems the Switch version will also be out before the other console ports, according to Johnson’s wording.
