A breakdown of who’s working on what

Yesterday’s discovery ofValve’s trademark ofHalf-Life 3in Europe didn’t do much for me. This latest story, however, is an entirely different matter. The company’s JIRA database for project management was publicly accessible for long enough that people could notice. And notice they did —the database has groupsforHalf-Life 3,Left 4 Dead 3, and Source 2, to name a few.

ForHalf-Life 3, it appears as if development is ramping up. Names like Erik Wolpaw (Portalwriter), Kelly Bailey (Half-Lifeseries composer), Marc Laidlaw (Half-Lifewriter), and Steve Bond (Half-Lifedesigner) are associated with the game. I still sense that it’ll be a long, long time before we hear anything concrete about the project from Valve’s side.

As forLeft 4 Dead 3, the team includes Chet Faliszek (Left 4 Deadseries writer), Jess Cliffe (co-creator ofCounter-Strike; also listed forHalf-Life 3), Clint Hocking (creative director ofSplinter CellandFar Cry 2), and Doug Church (ofSystem ShockandThieffame).

It’s hard not to get excited looking at some of these names — and the ones listed here are only a fraction of the full leak. Shame patience was never one of my strong suits.
