Make some room in your entertainment center

The time has nearly come for the next-generation.

On November 10, “next-gen” becomes just…”the gen,” and the cycle begins anew. Beginning, the console wars are. Sort of.

Microsoft has been adamant that the generational leap is going to be handled differently with more parity, while Sony is sailing full speed ahead into the classic iterative strategy. We’ll see how it works out for them soon enough, but for now, let’s take a closer look at the PS5.

As you can see, the box is huge. You can fit boxes ofother consolesinside of it.

Here is everything you getinthe box. There’s an HDMI cable, a power cord, a USB cord for charging the DualSense controller (speaking of, you get a DualSense controller, which we’ll have impressions on later) and a stand.

Oh and the actual PS5. Can’t forget that.

Here’s a look at the front of the PS5. Tactile buttons this time for power and ejectionare a big win.

There’s also a USB-A and USB-C port.

On the back, you’ll find two more USB-A ports, as well as a LAN and HDMI port and a spot to plug in the power cable.

Although I’m limited in what I can talk about right now, the PS5 is huge! The thing that struck me immediately after unboxing it was the size and shape when laid horizontally (which is how I display all of my consoles). This is arguably Sony’s most bold and polarizing hardware design yet.

We all kind of collectively had that wave hit uswhen it was first shown off, but it hit me again in-person. We’ll have more thoughts on the PS5 closer to launch.
